Food is Her Friend

Today was Miriam's 2-month Dr. checkup. Everything looks great according to Dr. Baker. He told us we were doing a good job. :) Anyway, here are the stats:

Birth
6 lbs. 15 oz.
20 1/2 inches long
2 Months
11 lbs. 9 oz. (75 %ile)
23 inches long (75 %ile)

So, apparently she's growing like a weed. Dr. Baker said "food is her friend" because she's gained such a good amount of weight. I love seeing her weight gains. It is just another assurance that we're doing okay as parents and that she is getting the nutrition she needs. It is very fun to see her grow and change.

Also at her appointment she got to experience shots. Wahoo for immunizations (sarcasm intended)! I realize it is better to be immunized than to experience the actual disease later on, but nothing makes a mom want to cry more than watching her baby scream in pain.

We gave her some infants' ibuprofen before we left so it could kick in a little. I know it helped. She did really well when she got the shots and only cried for a minute or two afterwards. Then she took a nap at home and was fine until she started to get hungry. She wasn't too impressed with nursing because in just about every position her legs get touched. So, she started whining and crying. The doctor told us to give her a warm bath to help the medicine go through her body more and to ease her pain. So, Owen gave her a bath while I pumped some milk in hopes that she'd take a bottle, which could be done without touching her legs. She was not impressed with the bath or the bottle (she's never really had one) and she wailed and moaned for a good little while. Finally she decided nursing wasn't so bad, and she snuggled up with me and fell asleep. She is still in and out of sleep rocking away in her swing. So, hopefully she's feeling a little better.
